Originally developed by Thomas, 8th Baron Howard de Walden in 1910 and purchased in 1945 by Mr Stanhope Joel the property is now owned by The Snailwell Stud Co.. The homebred Champion stallions CHAMOSSAIRE and BUSTED stood here for their whole stud careers.

The stud now specialises in individual attention for visiting mares and their foals during the Stud season. Mares are walked out to all studs in the Newmarket area and throughout the United Kingdom.

Out of the Stud season the property boards horses out of training requiring box rest.

A small number of private owners board their mares on a full time basis.

The stud submits to all the premier bloodstock sales in the U.K and Ireland.
